The Central American Immigrant Worker Community Development program here at CSS is here to assist Central Amerian Immigrant Workers with community development and organization, and issues with immigration and assimilation in to American Life. We cultivate partnerships with Organization Maya K’iche’ and similar organizations and help organize immigrants and sponsor neighborhood meetings. After several years of working with Organization Maya K’iche’ under the auspices of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (whose 3 yr start-up cycle has now concluded), Fr. Marc Fallon, continues to assist individuals and families affected by the ICE Bianco factory raid of March 2007. Other possible applicants to the CCHD are other local Central Americans and interested parties who are considering the sponsorship of a workers’ center in New Bedford. Fr. Marc is also associate pastor with the Spanish-speaking community of Saint Mary Parish, Taunton. Click here to read an excellent article by Fr.
